The main blog page has an option called Posts Link Name that allows users to customize the page name of each blog entry.
If I choose "MyBlogPage" for a value for Posts Link Name then all my individual blog pages will be named
MyBlogPage_01.html
MyBlogPage_02.html
MyBlogPage_03.html and so on.
I have two problems with this
1) I've heard having keywords in a URL helps with SEO and would like to be able to attract users to individual pages as well as the main blog.
2) When reviewing hits on pages, I'm faced with "MyBlogPage_87.html" or "MyBlogPage_52.html" and have to look up what the pages actually are.
Is there any way to customize the name of each blog URL?
Using the blog entry title with the spaces removed as the URL would be a great idea.
Please let me know what your ideas on the matter are.
Thanks |

put %%TITLE%% in the post link name field and your links would be like
the-title-of-your-post_ID.html _________________ Thanks,

Nice idea but wouldn't I have to put a dash between all of the words in the title? If the title was "Title of first post" I would want the URL to be "Titleofthefirstpost_ID.html not "Title of first post_ID.html".
Is this correct?
URL's hate spaces and put %20 in place of them which also screws up search results.
Maybe there's another tag that I'm not using that I could set to the value of the title without the spaces and put that in the post link field.
My second question is:
Would renaming the individual blogs change the list order on the sitemap.php page? Are the blogs on the list by the URL or by the date posted?
Thanks for your help |

url is rewritten safely.. don't worry. Make a post with whatever title you want and you will see how the link will be made..
at sitemap.php its the blog posts being list, not blogs.. _________________ Thanks,

I tried it and it works GREAT!!!
That solves the URL rewrite problem but I still have question on the sitemap.php.
I noticed the blog posts were in the same order after the URLs were rewritten. Are they sorted by date posted on sitemap.php?
By the way, I meant blog posts when referring to the sitemap.php in my last post - sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for the help. |

yes the sitemap page shows the posts by their publish date - from the newest on top and latest on bottom.. _________________ Thanks,
