I am totally confused about the interlinking feature and what it does.
Here's what I did so far: in LO I added links for three different blogs. Then I went to "Sites/Interlink" and filled in the info so site A linked to B, B linked to C and C linked to A.
Although it would be nice if LO automatically added these links to the correct sites after completing the interlinking information, I realize that I need to add these links manually to each blog.
So what is the point of the interlinking feature? Is it just a way to keep track of ABC links within LO? It seems like this could just as easily be done in a spreadsheet or on paper. |

no, you don't need to add the links manually. Once you have a template setup on your sites that prints your trades, the interlinkings will appear in it.. _________________ Thanks,

That's good news. I want to learn how to do this so I re-read the LO tutorial post. Unfortunately I'm still not sure how to incorporate interlinking.
Here's what I did so far... In LO I created three categories: A, B and C and in each category I added links to three different blogs.
Now I just need to know what to write in a template so that only the links from a specific category will show up. The tutorial only mentions how to have trades by number, not by category. |

LO doesn't suppot category trades output. If you are going to use it just for own sites interlinking. On all sites in category "A" you can select "Automatically list all sites from the following categories" and select category "B". Then for all sites in category B put to display all sites from category C _________________ Thanks,

How do I get to the "Automatically list all sites from the following categories" option?
On the site edt page only these three options are listed:
Automatically list all sites in the system
Automatically list all sites from same category in the system
Automatically list the following sites
Were you referring to the third option? It would be nice if there was the option to just select all the links in one category instead of clicking on each one individually. |

Yes that was correct, I did not have the upgraded version. I just upgraded and saw the option you mentioned. I went through all my blogs listed in LO and set up the correct A-B-C linking but I still don't see how to get the links to show up in my BO blogs. I assume there is some code that must go in my BO blog but upon searching here I just can't seem to find it. I appreciate your help. |

to display any links from LO you need to go and create a template for each site in LO. Go to "sites->search" and click on "templates" button for each site. Make a template and click on "linking" for each template and there you will find instructions how to include the template to your sites. Then your trades will show up on your sites.. _________________ Thanks,

I created a template and on the template link codes page I see four options. I've searched the BO and LO forums and documenation and cannot find the answers to these two questions:
1. Of the four link code options, which do I use in a BO blog?
2. Where does the code go in the BO blog?
I tried the first code ("PHP Include LOCAL") and inserted this in the "Link Trades Template" box in my BO blog but none of the links are showing up. |

the first thing to do after you setup a template in LO is go click on "View" button next to it, to make sure it is displaying any trades.
then click on "Linking". For safest way, go grab the "CURL REMOTE" code and put it somewhere in the sidebar of BO main blog template. Putting it in "link trades template" is wrong. _________________ Thanks,

I hit view and got an "internal server error" message. I'll send you a PM to see if you can help find where the problem is. |

when you get that error, chmod the "site_templates" folder to 755, go in LO in "Settings->Configure" and put 644 for file permissions. Then "Functions->Sites" Rebuild All Sites Templates. Then view your template and it should be fine.. _________________ Thanks,

That solved the error problem but my links still don't show up after hitting view. I'll PM you about this with my login and pass. Thanks. |

i just took a look and thats because your template was incomplete. You have put just the variable to define how the links should look, but didn't put a variable to tell the script to print trades and how many of them. Go and see now the template code to see what i did..

Success! I am now able to see the links and place the PHP code on my BO blog.
My new problem? LO is not displaying the correct links. I have the blog set to display all links from Category A and it's displaying links from another category. |

once you change something about links displaying in "Edit" of a site. You need to go and rebuild the templates for the site for the changes to take effect on the actual template.
go and see now the trades shown for the site you told me. Take in mind it shows all sites from category A, plus the custom ABC trades you have setup from "Sites->Interlinking". Thats why and one of the sites show up twice. So, either use the Interlinking or the features in the "Edit" screen of the site. _________________ Thanks,

Ok, I deleted the interlinking trades and that eliminated the duplicate and incorrect links that are showing up.
I think my problems may be solved. I'll report back later with an update. Thanks! |

Hello, I just wanted to give an update that everything seems to be working fine now. Thank you very much for your help.
One final question: I notice that when clicking on my links they open in the same broswer window. Is there an easy way to add the "_blank" tag to the LO code so that links open in a new window? |

you can add that in the template, in the "tradelinkformat" variable _________________ Thanks,
