Congrats on the latest version, some great new features there!
I'm having a problem though. Following the upgrade I can't seem to be able to edit my template. I tried to add a new link to the sidebar on one blog and although I can see it in the template code it doesnt appear on the blog. I tested this by altering the title tag in the template code of another blog and that doesn't show either. Everything else seems to be working fine.
One thing I did do was I rebuilt all my files of blogs made under the old version and used the ftp utility to overwrite the previous files. Could this be the problem? |

yep, when the script can't update something on the blog pages, probably the permissions of the files are not proper. Please make sure the files inside the dirs "boblogs" "boposts" ... are 777 and if necessary same user as the apache.. _________________ Thanks,

Thanks there was a problem here with the ownership permissions. I have now had this fixed by the host.
However, even though all the files in boposts and boblogs are now chmod 777 the template changes are still not showing up. |

Hi again,
contrary to what I posted originally it seems scheduled posts are not being published after all.
While they are reported in the admin panel as published they are not visible, so I guess they are being added to the database - but no one can see them. |

well, yes, when you have overwritten the files as you say, probably the permissions or owner of the files are changed and script can't update the files. When you see the items in the database, but the items aren't on the pages, script is having problems, writing the blog files. Do a check on the permissions of the directories and files as i already adviced. If nothing again, provide me access to your BO installation both to the admin and ftp.. _________________ Thanks,

Okay, you are fixed.
You had wrong php executable location in "General Settings->PHP Settings", i fixed it and all works now.
Anyone who's having problems his blogs update properly after upgrading to v2.5, please make sure the php executable location at General Settings->PHP Settings is a proper one, because the WGET which was building your blogs till now, is totally replaced by the php executable!

Thanks Kaktusan, all working fine now
Just wanted to add to your advice that once you've changed that setting then you must "rebuild all blogs" for it to take affect. |

Hi there,
well, ask your host support about the correct php executable location.
Its regularly at /usr/bin/php or /usr/local/bin/php
Also go by ftp to the directories "boblogs", "bofeeds" and "boposts" and make sure the files are 777. It seems like on particular server setups, the cronjobs run with other user than your own or the apache ones, and since the v2.5 thats might causing the blogs not to regenerate because of lack of permissions..
Let me know.. _________________ Thanks,

Hi Kaktus
sri but i have no success.
The folder bo/boblogs has permission 777
from the mc-panel i got the owner "web1" and group "web1" i found no possibility to change to apache or php.
the path to php should be set correctly to /usr/bin/php
and i although tried php4 at the end.
Greetings

are the files inside 777 too?
also you might try asking your host support how to make the stuff working, explaining them you have a php script on crontab that needs to read/write to those files. either they tell you to what user they should be or they do that themselves.. _________________ Thanks,

yes all the files inside are 777.
the answer from the hoster is user/group web1 should work.
i made the following:
i added a new blog, BO writes in bo/boblog the file blog18.php with 0 bytes.
i took the user/group (www-data) and applied that to boblog. i tried to regenerate blog 18 with no success. why did bo opens a file and then could not write?

umm, the switch from the wget to the php is causing that probs...
please pm me url and pass for BO admin and ftp access.
I am just doing some mods to the script itself to make stuff working normal and i will need to apply it to you.
