I just upgraded and got the blogs to show up and was able to modify them using some of the new tokens.

The bad news is the blog now function doesn't seem to work.

When I want to add an image to the new blog entry and click on the add image icon, ibrowser never shows up so I can't add it. I had other problems such as adding anchors.

I tried to reinstall just the template directory but that just seemed to destroy everything since now the blogs won't even show up. I'm going to erase the template directory and reinstall the entire upgrade.

My main question is what should the permission settings be on the template directory? I think the ibrowser controls are in there.

Should it be set to 777 or 755. Presently, it's set at 755.

Thanks.

permissions should be 755 or whatever are default to your server.

Be careful when deleting stuff, make sure you don't touch the rest folders like boblogs ..

Thanks.

I restored the backup of version 2.5 so I'll try the upgrade again.

Hi,

After my problem, I performed the following steps:

1) Deleted bo folder
2) Reloaded backup ver 2.5 bo folder - everything worked again
3) Deleted everything in the templates folder
4) Copied the upgrade files to the bo folder
5) Added bocategories folder and set the permissions to 777.
6) Ran bo-upgrade.php
7) Set the permissions to 777 on 6 folders and two files
Cool No blogs come up
9) Deleted the bo folder and reloaded backup ver 2.5 bo folder - now that doesn't work.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

I'm not sure if I set the permissions before or after running bo-upgrade.php. I think it was before. In any case, this shouldn't mess up the ver 2.5 backup.

The Admin page works fine but Where should I start looking when the blogs don't show up?

None of the php files under bo/boblogs show up so do you think this is permission related?

I also set all of the subfolders in boblogs, bofeeds, boposts, and so on, to 777. Is this correct?

I'm going to try to restore the 2.5 version again to check to see if the FTP program messed p somewhere.

Thanks in advance.

don't touch anything more coz you will end up messing it pretty wrong.

Go by ftp into boblogs folder and see if the files are there.
Try making them chmod to 666 and try opening one from your browser. If no success, chmod it to 644 and try in browser, if no success again, chmod the boblogs folder itself to 755 and try again in browser

Thanks for the great advice - It works again!

Changing the boblogs files to 664 and the boblogs folder to 755 did the trick.

Should I change any of the other folders that I changed to 777 back to 775?

Permissions can be set on the admin page under the general settings tab. Should I set the file permissions to 664 and the directory permissions to 775?

yes, set those permissions in the general settings->file permissions

chmod to 755 the folders: boposts, bomaps, bocategories, bofeeds

run a "mass blog settings->rebuild all blogs"

Thanks for the information. I have a better idea what each folder and file is supposed to do so the permissions make more sense. For anyone reading this with similar problems, the correct setting is 644 not 664 as I stated before.

I reloaded my 2.5 version, got that going, upgraded to the newest version and got that going after setting the permissions properly.

I did notice that the individual post pages weren't showing but solved that by changing the permissions on the bopost.php file to 644. In case anyone had a similar problem, the bopost.php file is created by the linking codes. I prevented that problem from happening in the future by changing the permissions in the general settings->file permissions as you suggested.

Unfortunately, the problem that started this is still there but I found out it has nothing to do with the upgrade. It deals with the WYSIWYG editor and I'll start a new post for that.
