In the post here..
http://support.cheapestwebsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?t=102&highlight=affiliate+modeule

the url...
http://www.mydomain.com/somefolder/somefile.php?variable=5&aff_id={AFF}&var=as

is given as an example. Some questions regarding this link...

1. are variable=5 and var=as codes used for BO that I'm unaware of? Or was that used as an example of how to fit the {AFF} code into a link with non BO codes, such as a link using a trade scripts own codes.

2. If I want to link internally on my site and have the affiliate codes passed from page to page do I have to put the ?{AFF} code at the end of every URL?

example;

from my page myblog.com/blog/ I wish to link to myblog.com/picturespost/page2/

do I have to put the ?{AFF} code at the end of each link like this.. http://www.myblog.com/picturespost/page2/?{AFF}

or does BO track affiliate codes automatically with internal linking? including linking back a few directories like this... ../../index.html

3. When linking externally but to BO blogs with the affiliate mod installed will {AFF} pass the affiliate code from blog to blog ?

hi there, here are the answers Smile

1) yes, thats just pretty much sample, how to tell the script where the affiliate id should appear. You just put the {AFF} variable in the url where exactly it should be for your case.

2) If you just want to link internally to links to your blog, no need to put ?... at the end. If your blog is on same domain as the other pages you would like internally to link, no need for that again too, if you want to track just the affiliate codes on the blog itself. If you want the pages not handled by the blog, receive always affiliate id, then you should put the ?... at end..since BO tracks and operates only the pages created by it. If the rest pages are on same domain as blog, you can skip that and read the cookie BO sets when the blog is initially visited with affiliated id..

3) No, it can't pass it right away, since blogs can be on different subdomain and domains and the cookie option won't work then. Just you will need to put ?aff={AFF} after the end of your blogs, and your blogs will appear linked properly.

Let me know if you have any more questions...
