I am confused. The console says:
Never Autoping! (Check this box and ignore the bottom scheduling settings if you wish your site to be autopinged when outside script informs Rocket Pinger to do so! If you add a site with this box checked, it will never be autopinged by Rocket Pinger itself, but when outside script tells Rocket Pinger to do the necessary pings!) "
If you want to run cron, isn't that auto pingiing? That's what I want to do. The warning says don't, then the instructions go on to say,

After I add the full url in the automated pinging drop down, I go to manage sites in the automated drop down and all the sites are gone!
This is completely confusing to me. It seems that all the trouble I went to to set uf cron has be wasted because RP does the job by setting the time intervals.
When the "add sites" dropdown is selected from automatic pinging, it states I can set my own dates and time from the non-cron - automated RP pinger. That's fine. But then it asks to have the domains entered in as follows:
Syntax:
URL||TITLE
What does that mean? Is this what you want: http://rob***.net/||Rob W** Film Music

yes, from the "automated pinging->add sites" you add the sites you want the script automatically ping. You enter then in syntax URL||TITLE
like http://www.mysite.com||My Site Title
the "never auto ping" checkbox is used for other purposes, not for automatic pinging, so don't click it.

I just figuyred the whole thing out --
I was able to add the urls and description, understand difference between utomatic and manual.
