As of version 2.0 of Blogs Organizer, you can autopopulate your blogs from RSS feeds. This is great feature, since you can put your blogs on a total autopilot, and they always have fresh content, published automatically.
Here's an explanation how to accomplish that exactly.
1) Grab your RSS feeds URLs
2) Go to your BO admin->RSS Feeders->Add
in that form there, you add your RSS feeds to the BO database.
Just paste your feeds one per line.
3) Okay, you added your feeds to BO database, now lets use them on some blogs. Go to "Blogs->Manage", from the list, pick up your blog on which you want to show the content from the RSS feeds and click on "Edit" on the blog.
4) Once you are on the edit screen of the blog, scroll down and locate the settings in the section "RSS Feeders Settings"
For Feeders Sources, you see a select list with all your available RSS feeds added into the BO database. So just select any of them you like this blog to use. Host the CTRL key of your keyboard while clicking with the mouse on the list, to select multiple RSS feeds.
So far, you have selected which RSS feeds you will use on the blog. Now you should tell how frequent BO should scan the feed for new items. Do that in Crawl Period. There you specify in "minutes" how frequent BO should scan the feeds. So just enter your minutes value. Advicable value is 1400 minutes (1 day). Which means BO will scan that feed once a day.
NEVER EVER set the Crawl Period value to 1 minute. Even for testing purposes! Doing so might overload your server, if for example BO needs to scan hundreds of feeds for hundreds of blogs each minute!
Okay, so far you have selected what RSS feeds to use and how frequent to scan them. Now you should specify how much items to read from the feeds and include as posts in your blog. Do that in New Posts Count. For example if you set it to 10, BO will include maximum 10 new posts to your blog on each scan of the feed. Note it might include less or even none, if there are no new items in the RSS feed crawled.
The last option you should look at is the Posts Order. Its purpose is to tell BO with what date to include the newly posts from the feeds. Best is to use "Current Timestamp" which means BO will add the posts with the time when it crawled the feed and added them to the database.
So, you are ready, just scroll down and hit the "Update" button.
Wait for a minute, the cronjob for the feeds crawler to run and autopopulate your blogs.
Thats all! _________________ Thanks,
