i know it was requested quite often, so i wanted to ask to make sure
does the 3,4 version of BO support archives similar to WP, where the archives are monthly like
January 2007
December 2006
and so on .. |

no, it is not implemented yet. Such archives require plenty of coding and will be done soon.
