I installed BO yesterday and have never worked with blogs before so I'm kind of at a loss for where to start.

But I added a wordpress blog I have on my main domain, but nothing happened whwn I tried to update it, so today I found the Generate Linking Codes part. I'm confused about the .htaccess file though. I have a rather long htaccess file on my domain from before that I don't want to mess up.

I tried adding the blog stuff to the end of my old htaccess file, but it gave me an internal error. What should I do?

Regards,

Anders

hi there,

well, you are probably mistaking the things.

1) Blogs Organizer can create and operate blogs by itself, you don't need to install WP or any other software to operate a new blog.

2) Blogs Organizer can operate your existing WP and other kind of blogs.

If you want to create a new blog operated totally by BO, you should use the "Blogs" section. Then you add your new blog info, grab the linking files and put them to the blog location.

If you want to operate already existing WP or other kind of blog, you should use the "Remote Blogs". There you add the urls and login infos for your blog, and directly start posting to it. No linking files to upload to it.

I hope this makes it clear enough for you..

Let me know if you need more assistance!

Ok. That helped Very Happy

Still a bit confused though. If I have the domain mydomain.com, I will still have to create the blog.mydomain.com on the webserver, if thats where I want the blog to be, right?

One more question. When I do need to upload the linking files, should they be put in the main folder of mydomain.com or blog.mydomain.com?

Anders

Ok cool.

Well, yes, since your blogs can be on remote servers the software doesn't create the actual blog location automatically, but you need to create it and upload the linking files.

Well, you should upload the linking files to the exact location of the blog you chosen. For example if you setup a new blog at domain.com , then you should upload the linking files at the domain root directory. If you setup a new blog domain.com/blog/ , then you should upload in /blog/ directory. If you setup a new blog at myblog.domain.com , then you should upload into the root directory of the subdomain.
