I've just tried setting up my first blog - just a simple test with a single post - and uploaded the files to the appropriate domain (on the same host as the domain I've got BO installed on) and folders.

Unfortunately all I'm getting from my browser when I go to the location of the blog is a 500 Internal Server Error.
I've tried going directly to the actual location of the blog in the boblogs folder under the BO install, and it seems to be working properly, so obviously something appears to have been messed up during the include of the blog on the other domain.
I've double checked everything (and tried the Curl PHP alternative, whatever that is), but I'm still getting the 500 error. I'm using plenty of PHP code on that domain (got a WordPress blog installed at the root), so it doesn't seem like limitations in that department.

Any idea what's wrong here?

thats usually caused by 2-3 reasons..

1) if you have entered some special chars or spaces in the "sitemap" or "post link name" fields of the blog settings. If you have any of those wrong, please remove the special chars from those fields. You can use only _ or -
after that grab again the .htaccess linking file for the blog, and upload to its location.

2) it might be your host, having security settings, not to allow php files with permissions 666 to be working. To check that, point your browser to the actual blog file at http://www.yourdomain.com/bo/boblogs/blog#.php where the # is the blog id. If that file works fine, its from your htaccess at the blog location, if that file doesn't work its from the host permissions, and you will need to let me know so i can issue you a workaround.

Let me know..

I just tried setting up a second blog, this time on the same domain BO is installed on - and it works as intended with no errors.

Did I misunderstand something here? Can BO only be used on that one domain (aside from the remote blogs feature, which seems to aimed only at blog services)?

Edit: Was writing this before I saw your response. I'll see if I can figure it out - and run a test with one of my other hosts as well.

Third test blog is working properly on a domain on another host. Guess there's something fishy going on with the settings somewhere on the first host then.

As mentioned the direct file under /boblogs/ works properly on the first host, and I'm not entirely sure I'm understanding you on this part:

"If that file works fine, its from your htaccess at the blog location, if that file doesn't work its from the host permissions, and you will need to let me know so i can issue you a workaround."

What exactly am I supposed to look for here? Looking at the file I think we can pretty much assume I'm fairly clueless Smile.

okay, so at the BO install host the /boblogs/blog#.php is working when you launch it via browser, right?

Then the problem is from your blog settings or the htaccess code at the blog location. To test, please remove if you have entered any values for the "Sitemap" and "Post Link Name" settings of your blog settings, go grab the htaccess linking file for the blog, and upload it to the blog location. If the problem still exists, pm me url and pass to your BO and i will take a look..

Looks like it was either the post link name or the sitemap value - probably the latter where I might have gone a bit too creative using several words (I used a %%TITLE%% on the post link name).

Everything appears to be working now - thanks.
