Some of my blogs generates the file sitemap.xml.gz with 0 Bytes file length. Worked well when I started the blog, but after some RSS feeds updates the filesize shows 0 Bytes. Google Webmaster Tools shows me an ERROR for these sitemaps.
When the blog updates again, the file size went back to normal.

Not a big problem, just a smaller one Wink

not regularly... I have 28 blogs added to the google wm tools and 3 blogs had this error today.

I just added and deleted a test posting to these blogs and the file size of the sitemap went back to normal.

i see, could be a temp glitch.. see if it will happen again..

tell me, how did you see the filesize is 0 bytes. Did you see that as error report in google, or did you tried to download the sitemap file or you went by ftp to the /bo/bomaps/ directory and saw the files have 0 bytes?

take in mind you saw the error in google, i am regularly facing similar problems with the sitemaps and site verifications there. google regularly reports my pages and sitemaps timeout, but i am sure my server is pretty fast and there are no timeout problems, just the google system is bugging regularly and then gets back fine after days..

Google WM tools shows this error message:
Code:
Sitemap errors and warnings

Details    -    Network unreachable: Network unreachable
We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.

I clicked on the link to download the sitemap and the file downloaded has file length 0.

Just FYI

The file (/bo/bomaps/blog93.xml.gz) has a file size of 8kb.

i see, really strange..could be some server issue, because it doesn't make sense not to write the sitemap file since it has permissions to write it and all other blogs files update fine too. Also when you update the blog manually it writes properly the sitemap file..

if you want me to take a look deeper into the problem i will need via pm url and pass to your BO admin and ftp access to there.
