Hi

I had enough with one of the hosting company I use and its time I really give up on them and move all my sites to another one.

So, question is when I reinstall BO into the new host, I copy the template file over, and restore the database backup ( from the old server ) to the new SQL. Will that be enough? Or is there something I missed.

Just making a check list to prepare for this move.

Thanks in advance,
TrulyMadly

PS> Information for everyone here: 1and1 hosting sucks big time. Stay away if you are running adult sites.

hi there, yeah it really sucks when troubles with hosts arise..

well, you need to do this:
old server:
- export whole mysql database
- compress whole "bo" directory

new server:
- make sure all script requirements are okay
- extract the "bo" directory and make sure all the directories that the installer needs to be 777 are chmod to 777, also go inside each directory and chmod all of the files or inner contents to 777
- create a mysql database, and import the bo database to it
- edit the boinfo.inc.php file and on first lines set your new mysql info

thats it. just whatever you do, make sure you have the backups from the old server and don't delete them before you make everything working on the new one.

Thanks Smile

Before I was thinking of uploading the BO that I downloaded from the customer lounge area here. So all the BO files must be transferred across the servers? Or I can use a fresh copy of BO as long as I import the old Db into the new server?

But I suppose compressing it and then extract will be a faster method anyway Smile

Ok thanks again.

TrulyMadly

( Update: Sorry I am dumb lol, of course if I upload fresh copy, I will have to install the whole thing again Embarassed )

yes, you can use and brand new install of BO and then importing your old database, and rebuilding old blogs. I think that will work pretty fine too.
