I'm trying out BA with some feeds from APM on http://whothefuckislemmy.com/ and it appears that the same posts are made several times. Check out the posts for today and yesterday to see what I mean.
Could the reason be that I edited the titles/text on yesterday's posts and the script doesn't recognize that the post is already there?
I also get error messages in the campaign list saying the operation timed out, yet posts are being made. Don't know if this is related. It only happens on WTFIL and not on 3 other blogs I have tried it on. The WP version is 2.0.2. _________________ AKA Lemmy |

hey there,
the duplicate posts could be because the feeds you have assigned to the campaign, might have duplicate entries.
as about the timeout, probably its because you have your WP blog to do a ping, and when doing remote posting it waits till it does the ping, and BA can't wait that much and says timeout.. _________________ Thanks,

Well that sucks if you have to choose between pinging and errors.
My pinglist only had 15 entries, but I reduced to only pingomatic and we'll see what happens.
Regardless of the reason for the error the posts still show up on the blog even though the campaign list says 0 posts were made. And they're showing up in duplicates. The entries list in BA shows no duplicate posts and now it's happening with more sponsor feeds. Too much of a coincidence. Something strange is going on. _________________ AKA Lemmy |

Ok, so the cron ran again and now I have triple postings, LOL!
But the good news is I think I have an idea what may have happened.
When the script timed out the posting wasn't registered (even though the post somehow was made). So the next time cron runs the script tries to post the first entry in queue and we end up with a duplicate (which the script fails to register) and so on and so forth.
Removing the pings fixed the error messages so I guess we'll find out in 24 hours if I get a quadruple posting or if it moves on to the next entry. Crossing fingers! _________________ AKA Lemmy |

well listen.. when because of the pings BA times out, it doesn't mark that the entry has been posted to that blog, so next time it will send it again, coz it is not marked as published successfully.
So when it publishesh sucessfully and your duplicate problem will be solved.
Anyways, for next version of the software i will add to be able to manually be able to set the timeout, so you won't have such problems. I have it set now to 20 seconds, because if its needed to update lets say 40 campaigns at once and needs to wait for each to ping and lets make it minute per campaign, it will take 40 minutes the cronjob to complete.. that will slow everything down..
Hope you understand why i have it like that.. _________________ Thanks,

Atanasis, I didn't mean to come off as an asshole yesterday. It's good to know that you're addressing the issue in the next update. Maybe something to put in a readme file, as I'm sure many bloggers have a long pinglist.
It looks like my duplicate post problem may have resoved itself after I reduced the pings. I'll let you know when the cron cycle has run again.
I have another question for you. I have a campaign set to pull from all sponsors with a teen feed. Right now that's 5 feeds, all of which are well populated with posts in the items list. If I execute that campaign manually, shouldn't I immediately see 5 new posts on the blog? I just did this and only got one new post. _________________ AKA Lemmy |

no problems man
yep, i shall write it these days somewhere in the docs..
as about your second question: 1 campaign execution is 1 new post. It doesn't matter if you have selected 10 feeds or something else... if you want to post 5 posts in a row, just execute campaign 5 times and you are done.. _________________ Thanks,

OK that explains it. I assume it rotates through the feeds so it doesn't post from thes same feed two times in a row? _________________ AKA Lemmy |

well, that depends on your campaign settings. If you set the "Pick entries in order" field to Random, it would pick random from all feeds. But if you set it to "oldest to newest" or "newest to oldest", there it depends on the entry date from the rss feed, and it might pick multiple entries from same feed if their dates are consecutive and the entries from the other feeds don't go between them.. _________________ Thanks,
