well, no problems asking.
1) Inspect the code for one or two templates and get familiar with them. They are all having almost same code and same structure, so that will help you work good with BO templates. The image header goes into the div with id logo or header, its almost on top of the html after the body tag
2) those are just samples, for blogs is best to use text in the header and not images, since images are not SE food.
