I see that you suggest we set our Cron jobs to automatically run each minute. I have two questions:

1) Does that mean RP pings EVERY ping service for only ONE of my sites each minute?

2) My shared hosting service (Go Daddy) will not let me set my Cron job frequency to 1 minute. The lowest they will allow is every 30 minutes, so that will only let me ping 48 of my sites per day. I have hundreds of sites. In the Scheduled at section of Mass Add Sites for Pinging, I see RePing automatically every [ ] day(s). Can you clarify how this works? If it is set to "1", does that mean RP will only get to ping the first 48 of my sites each day? Or will it work its way through the whole list, pinging 48 new sites at a time over the course of several days? If I set RePing automatically to fractions of a day, will that make RP get through my whole list of sites each day, or am I stuck with 48 per day because of the 30 minute Cron job frequency
Thanks,
Scott

the cronjob is setup each minute to allow you precise working of the scheduling features with accuracy to the minute. It won't ping any minute unless you have sites set to ping each minute. Just each minute the cronjob runs, sees if there is something to be pinged, if so - pings it and dies.. thats it.

when your host doesn't allow per minute cronjobs, you can set it to the minimum they allow.

Hi Atanasis
I have the same question
I added hundreds of sites in diferent hours and intervals, but i saw that RP takes only 1 blog per minute when the cronjobs is call.

For ex. if i have 10 sites to ping at 08:00, after the cronjob runs, will rp try to ping all these 10 sites at 08:00 or one per minute?
Because if is only one per minute its limiting me to autoping only 1440 blogs per day...
I use proxies to avoid blacklisting. I only want to know about that.
Thanks
Damian

Damian is right: for a 1 minute Cron job interval, RP will only ping 1440 sites per day maximum.

My question is: Let's say I have 2000 sites loaded up to autoping. At the end of day 1, RP has pinged to the first 1440. What happens on day 2? Does RP start at 1441 and continue through 2000? Or does it start over at site #1 and only do the first 1440 each day?

What if I set "RePing automatically every" 2 days instead of 1 when I Mass Add my sites? Will RP ping the first 1440 on Day 1, then ping (1441 through 2000) and (1 through 880) on Day 2? (i.e., 560+880=1440 pings on Day 2)

It's critical to know how this works for anyone who is pinging more than 1440 sites.
Thanks
Scott

Hi Scott, thanks for your help.
Well, i think it will be hard to ping +1440 per day. I have all my sites with an interval of 2 days, but i have over 5,000 sites to ping!! so im thinking in make a new install of rocket pinger on the same domain to double the pings capacity.
Hope that Support adds a new feature that send more pings per minute using proxies, at least 1 ping for each active proxy to give more pings per day to the user.

Thanks
Damian

So, with a 2 day re-ping interval, are you finding that RP pings the same first 1440 sites 2 days in a row, or does it ping the same first 2880 sites every 2 days?

yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if you have to set up a separate Cron job for the second RP installation?

Yeah, you need to setup a new cronjob since its in a separate folder and the server needs the new path to run the second cronjob.
I found it as a good way to start, maybe with 2 or 3 installs i can run upto 8640 blolgs... (2880 per install, with an interval of 2 days)

Maybe Atanasis can post any comment... how do you do Atanasis if you want to add +1440 sites to ping every day?

Bye
Damian

i just answered to Scott in a pm before i see this thread.

here's it is again.

I don't ping that much sites currently, but here's how i do my things.
I ping each of my blogs just once every 4 days since my blogs update with new posts every 4 days. Anything else that is static pages, inner domain pages and etc i don't ping more often than once a week. Generally frequent pinging isn't making you much more traffic or any more signifficant results.
I have some more priority domains that i ping once a day.

So, it is all about some organization of the urls. Sort them by priority and groups, import them to RP and set different reping intervals.
